My Favorite Scream Queen:Cristina Galbo
Cristina Galbo born on January 17, 1950 in Madrid Spain was a young ingenue actress appearing in Spanish film comedies and musicals in the late 1960's in films like BERNADETTE OF LOURDES(1968) when she started being cast as the heroine in Spanish and Italian cult horror films of the late 1960's and early 1970's such as Narciso Ibanez Serrador gothic proto-slasher film LA RESIDENCIA aka THE HOUSE THAT SCREAMED (1969) that inspired Dario Argento's SUSPIRIA(1977),the zombie film NO PROFANARAS EL SUENO DE LOS MUERTOS aka THE LIVING DEAD AT MANCHESTER MORGUE(1972),the giallo films WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO SOLANGE?(1971) with Camille Keaton and Luigi Cozzi's THE KILLER MUST KILL AGAIN(1974). Her final Spanish horror film was LA ENDEMONIADA aka THE CURSED ONE(1975) which was a takeoff on the demonic possession films that came after the success of THE EXORCIST(1973). After the death of her husband, Spaghetti Western film star Peter Mark Lawrence in 1975, Ms. Galbo and her young son then moved to the United States where she currently has a career as a Hispanic professor and flamenco dancing instructor in an University in Southern California.
