Tuesday Weld:An American Girl
Tuesday Weld aka Susan Ker Weld born on August 27, 1943 in New York City, has always been one of my favorite supporting character actresses since the 1960's when she first appeared in the classic 60's TV sitcom, THE MANY LOVES OF DOBIE GILLIS(1959-1963) as Dobie's unrequited teenage love Thalia Messinger and later appeared in such films as "WILD IN THE COUNTRY (1961) with Elvis Presley, RETURN TO PEYTON PLACE(1960), LORD LOVE A DUCK(1966) with Roddy McDowall,PRETTY POISON (1968) with Anthony Perkins, PLAY IT AS IT LAYS(1972), LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR(1977) with Diane Keaton & Richard Gere, THIEF(1981) with James Caan and ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA with Robert De Niro among other films. Starting tomorrow September 22 to Sunday September 25, 2011, the Walter Reade Theater at NYC's Lincoln Center will show a mini film retrospective of Tuesday Weld's best films with such films as BACHELOR FLAT(1962), I WALK THE LINE(1970) with Gregory Peck,LOOKING FOR MR.
