Canadian actress Debbie Rochon is considered by both horror movie fans and people in the genre to be not only the best "Scream Queen" in films but also the "Queen of Independent Horror Films". Therefore it is obvious that a video tribute to the career of Ms. Rochon in the last thirty years and as well as almost 200 films she appeared in,would be made, especially by Troma Films where Ms. Rochon made her horror career by appearing in such Troma films such as TROMEO AND JULIET(1994), CITIZAN TOXIE(2000),TERROR FIRMER(1999) and most recently, POULTRYGEIST (2008). But unfortunately this recent video tribute by Troma called DEBBIE ROCHON CONFIDENTIAL:MY YEARS IN TROMAVILLE EXPOSED is definitely not it!
This video is really a hodgepodge or collection of clips and videos that Debbie Rochon appeared in as a "Tromette" as introductions for other Troma video releases in the last 20 years as well as some of her short interview clips from Troma TV. There are some clips from Debbie's movies like TROMEO AND JULIET & TERROR FIRMER but they are few and far between and they are not even her best scenes in those movies. There are not even new interviews with Debbie Rochon talking about her career in Troma and other companies like Seduction Cinema and Full Moon Video. There is not even an audio commentary with Debbie Rochon on this DVD talking about her long and illustrious career in independent horror cinema. The only extra on this DVD is an segment of the TV horror show TRAILER PARK in which Debbie Rochon was the host on FANGORIA TV which shows more of Ms. Rochon and her talents than every thing that appears on this "homage" DVD and much better too, sadly. Lloyd Kaufmann head of Troma has been announcing the release of this Debbie Rochon homage DVD for years now but what we Debbie Rochon fans get from this DVd is really more footage of Lloy
Debbie Rochon Confidential My Years in Tromavilled Kaufmann mugging for the camera sadly overacting and not being funny and most despairingly.making more propaganda for his Troma films than talking about Debbie which Lloyd says he "discovered" when in reality Ms. Rochon was making films years before appearing in Troma films. Sadly Lloyd Kaufmann dropped the ball on this one but hopefully in the near future someone(Fangoria for instance) will give the talented and gorgeous Debbie Rochon the video and DVD tribute that she really deserves with direct participation by Ms. Rochon herself!
