The Immortal Brigitte Bardot's 77 Birthday
As the 77th birthday of France's most famous sex symbols approaches,Brigitte Anne-Marie Bardot aka Brigitte Bardot continues to make headlines in her native country France as well as world wide. The recent cinematic release of GAINSBOURG:AN HEROIC LIFE written and directed by Joann Sfar who is about the life and career of France's most famous and controversial pop music composer/musician Serge Gainsbourg who was both Brigitte Bardot's former lover and collaborator in various hit songs performed by Ms. Bardot herself such as "Comic Strip", The Balled of Bonnie & Clyde","Harley Davidson" and the original censored version of the erotic song. "JeT'Aime Mon Non Plus" has caused renewed interest in Brigitte Bardot and her career in music and films. The film has been a success both in Europe as well as here in the US, especially with the amazing performance of French supermodel/actress Laetitia Casta as Brigitte Bardot in the film in which film critics were very impressed by Ms. Casta's acting recreation as BeBe. Because of that, there has been talks of making a film based on Brigitte Bardot's life and career even to the point that filmmaker and documentarian Kyle Newman announced a film project on Bardot's life with his wife Jaime King in the role of BB. But when Ms. Bardot heard of the proposed film project, she blew her stack and stated that Newman "must wait until Brigitte Bardot is dead before making a movie based on her life" and threatened that "sparks will fly" if such a film project progresses. Ironically Ms. Bardot made those remarks in August of last year although the Serge Gainsbourg film with Laetitia Casta as Brigitte Bardot was already released in Europe to great critical and popular success. My response as a longtime Brigitte Bardot fan is that to prevent any such unfaithful cinematic adaptions based on Ms. Bardot's life, then BeBe herself should executively produce such a film project based on her life and career to prevent such inaccuracies just like her contemporary screen icon Sophia Loren did about a decade ago when she produced and supervised a TV mini-series on her life and career(Ms.Loren even played her own mother in that mini-series!) Whatever Ms. Bardot protests about making her life into a movie, such a film project will occur sooner than later since Ms. Bardot is considered a public figure for having lived her life so openly in the last sixty years of her career.
